Welcome, Jakob Townley Fausett!

I thought I knew who I was and what kind of goals I had in life... a picture of exactly the kind of person I was going to be... and man was I off! I'm sure most new mommy's can relate! I've fallen in love with my new little man so completely I just don't know how I lived life before him, and he's only three days old! Well, having said that, let me introduce my "reason for living"...

Jakob Townley Fausett was born on August 27th 2008 (duh) at 3:57 a.m. He was 19 1/2 inches long and 8 lbs even. You can tell from the pictures he's got dark hair and slanty hazel eyes (hazel gray, for now...) like his mommy, but he inherited his cute dimples, big hands and big feet from his daddy!

I'm not good at blogging yet, so though I have a lot to write about, I'm going to have to do this slowly, so be patient!

Jakob is such a good natured baby. When he first came out he cried (more like shrieked! Haha, when he's upset his cry is so pathetic and high pitched... adorable), but rarely did he cry after that. I'll say that he had to get used to having his diaper changed, but to his credit, he still has not sprayed either of us when we change him! Even when they came to draw blood from his foot, he didn't make a sound! Jakob is very alert. I've been surprised! He likes to look around with those big round eyes (yeah, they actually are pretty big when he opens them all the way even though they're slanted) and often watches me when I'm feeding him or burping him.

My favorite thing on earth is when he has just eaten and been burped, he'll get all calm and close his eyes and then I'll dance tickle his face (we call it "dance tickle"- not to be confused with tickling- Sarah and I made it up when we were kids trying to explain to each other that we didn't want to be "tickled" til we laughed, but wanted that soft touch rub). When I do, he either smirks, showing off that cute little cheek dimple of his, or full out smiles with his cute wide mouth!

He is easily calmed with being rocked or sucking on his favorite blue binky. The last couple nights, he's had some gas, thus keeping mom and dad up through the night. But his cries are becoming more discernable so we're slowly but surely learning how to settle him down.

We're so thankful for everyone that came to visit him and celebrate his entrance into the world! I know he is a very special spirit, and I know Heavenly Father sent him to our family (to me) during a time that he needed to be here. He has brought so much joy to our family and has become my whole life. I love him with all my heart and am so thankful Heavenly Father has allowed me to be his caregiver and mommy on earth.
***Special note and thanks in regards to my sister, Sarah Bringhurst. I'll blog more about all she's done for us through this whole thing next time, but I honestly don't know what I would have done without her. She walked me through this whole new experience every step of the way, and her constant concern and support has served as a backbone for me before, during, and now after the birth of our baby! I love her with all my heart, and couldn't ask for a better bestfriend.***

He is so cute! Congratulations! And I bet your dad is so thrilled to finally have a little boy. My dad was beaming when we found out Paxton was a boy. Have so much fun with him and enjoy every little moment. I'm sure you've been told, but it goes by so fast.
