When Jakey gets in trouble, he gets time out, which means he gets to stand with his nose in a corner till I call him out and then we talk about why he got time out. Well, the most adorable thing has happened. Michael has learned to go to time out! I never even asked it of him. I was trying to tell Jakob to go stand in time out and Michael went instead, put his tiny little face in the corner and stood there silently for about 3 seconds, then came and stood about a foot in front of where I was kneeling, turned around, and backed up till his bottom found my leg, then sat down and listened intently while I talked to him about why he was in time out. I could hardly keep a straight face! And every time since, I still have a hard time with staying serious! And when I say every time, I mean that whenever I tell Michael to go to time out, even if it's in the middle of a tantrum, he stands up obediently and walks to the time out corner. IT IS SO CUTE! His little 2 foot nothing frame is just too much for me! I have to just kiss him every time I see him. I think he thinks it's some sort of game too, because sometimes he'll sass me just so he can do it! Oh, I really almost die of cuteness exposure daily.
Michael continues to eat almost everything I put in front of him. His eating method involves scooping up a big handful of food, sticking his clenched, stuffed fist into his mouth, opening his hand to release the food, and finally pulling his hand out of his mouth again to repeat. You can only imagine how awesome that is to watch! Go ahead and try fitting your hand in your mouth, it's not gonna happen.
Jakob LOVES Super Why! the movie. And when the Super Readers have a problem they "look in a book". Well, whenever Jake gets in trouble, I've noticed he begins repeating the lines in the movie, starting with "This is a super big problem." Jakob also sings to himself as of late! I love it! I'll hear him singing the Super Why! theme song, Popcorn Popping, ABC's, Twinkle Twinkle, etc. Also, lately Jake has been quoting movies! Who would have thought it? Just like his mama. The one he's been quoting lately is Nemo.
"Are you my conscience?"
"Yeah, yeah, I'm yo conscience, we haven' spoke in a why-o, how are you?"
"Hey, conscience, am I dead?"
"I see a white!"
"Yeah, I see it too."
"It's so pwitty! I want to touch it."
No idea why he chose this particular part of Nemo, but it sure does make me smile!
Another fun thing Jakey has been doing is going to bed when I ask without requiring me to carry him in or anything routine like that. The other day I was on the couch reading and really wanted to finish the paragraph. Jake wanted me to do something, and I ended up saying, "Jakey, go crawl in bed and go to sleep, please." And to my utter astonishment, he said, "Okay, mommy." And away he went. Of course I didn't believe him. I fully intended getting up and finding out what he needed, but when I did, I found him lying in bed, out cold. This only happens, I think, when he is exceptionally tired.
I have a sister-in-law living in the basement and it has been a BLAST! I also am going to Weber State to audition for their music program so wish me some luck & comfort. Anyway, that's all for today. :)
