Funny Boy!

I have to keep a record of the cute things Jake says. It's difficult for me to keep up with blogging, but these are special little things to me so I'm gonna keep posting them!

When Jake wants anything he begins with saying, "Ummm, ummm, uhhh, want..." then fills in the blank with a questioning inclination in his voice, and enthusiastically says, "Okaaaay!" after.  For example, in the morning he will say "Want milk? Okay!" "Want toast? Okay!" "Want dip (Dip means oatmeal and toast)? Okay!"
Jake's favorite game is Plants vs. Zombies. When he wants me to play it with him, he whispers in my ear, "bwains!" and then leads me to the computer.

Jake has a nasty habit of announcing his flatulence! Yikes! Haha. He's still young enough for it to be pretty dang cute though! Usually what happens is I hear him do it followed by a soft chuckle and then he announces it saying, "Is Rip!" (I just ripped!) An even nastier habit of his is to repeat this very process in the middle of sacrament when it's dead silent, chuckle and all!

I've explained to Jakob that there is a little baby brother growing inside my belly. So now when I ask him, "Where's baby brother?" He points to my belly and says, "Dis baby brahdah growin in there!"
Jake also has learned the concept "where". So he'll often ask, "Where's dad?" and then say, "I go find dad." It's my favorite! He'll do it with a million other things too. He'll ask where his ball, milk, car, mommy, daddy, and any other word he can think of- where they are! Then he'll exclaim he's going to go find it.  He really is the little broken record too. He repeats almost anything he hears. He loves his vitamins and will often lead me to the cupboard and point at them, "ameeens?"

Jakob is also a  little sports fanatic. He LOVES watching basketball. Loves it. He sits there as still as any obsessed, adult man, watching the game with his dad and uncles. The cool thing is he actually knows what's going on! He'll yell "NICE" when a player scores and "Oh MAN!" when a player misses! If he's got a lot of energy, he will require a high five with each shot made yelling "NICE" and "YES!" Then he will make his rounds getting "elbows" from everyone. This is my favorite cause he walks around with his arms in a forward duck wing till each person in the room has hit both their elbows with his.

Jake is still as good-natured a boy as ever. He is very observant and thoughtful, but not in a serious sort of way. In fact, he's as goofy and crazy as his parents are I think! When he is the center of attention he does the goofiest little dance, kicking his legs forward really fast and then laying on his belly with his legs kicked up behind, almost touching the back of his head! So flexible! He also loves playing peek-a-boo. He gets really nervous when we hide behind things and just laughs his head off. It's my favorite when he laughs like that cause his mouth gapes wide open, accentuating his little baby features. He doesn't like being messy, I noticed. When he does make a mess, he says "MESS" and cleans it up.

As far as discipline goes, Jake is one that does NOT need any spanking. Usually if he is throwing a tantrum or is so out of control he can't talk to me, I stick him in the time-out chair. The Time Out Chair is too tall for him to slide off so he is forced to sit there for however long I like. He'll usually cry or whine for about 2-4 minutes- then he squeaks, "All Done!" or "Done, done, done!" Letting the pitch of his voice climb higher and higher till someone comes and gets him down. It's like magic! He just finishes and is ready to be happy again! He always looks me in the eyes when I ask him to look at me. Usually I ask him to look at me when I need to talk to him. He is a very, VERY obedient boy.  He doesn't like it when I raise my voice, not at all. So if I'm watching a show or something and happen to raise my voice for whatever reason, he jumps into my arms and cuddles into me as though he's afraid and wants me to stop scaring him! Needless to say, I try to check myself so I don't scare him!

I watched him take something from another child for the first time this week. It was his little 9 mo. old cousin Baylee. She was eating a cracker and he came up and took it from her (innocent enough, he just wanted a bite). But I nipped it right there. I said, "Jakob! No, no.... we don't take things from others." That was all he needed. He gave it back to her. I was very proud of him. :)

One last thing I should mention, Jakob loves bed-time and we have a very specific bedtime routine! First we brush teeth and get into pajamas (Jake calls them "Jambees"). Then we say prayers, read a few books, and sing songs. Jake's favorite songs right now are: Fooooot (Little Bunny Foo Foo)!, Cop-key (Popcorn Popping), ABC's, Head-Shoulders-Knees-Toes, Once There Was A Snowman, Itsy-Bitsy Spider, and then... my favorite... these songs are the ones I lay him down to sing to him while I rub his arms and face, and they are honestly his very favorite songs. The first one he calls, "Skipcheese". It's actually Search, Ponder and Pray. While I sing it he gets the biggest smile in the world, and then almost giggles when I say the word scriptures! I have no idea why! He must like the way my mouth moves when I say it or thinks it's funny. The second one he calls, "Tempo". I Love To See the Temple.

If nobody reads this post it will be okay. This is my record and I'm sure I will be the one that appreciates writing the cute little things my angels do to make me smile.

I have a lot going on right now that I would LOVE to post about- sometime. For now, at least I have the important part down. :)
